The Rockford Mass Transit District is committed to the environment and enhancing the quality of life in our community.  Therefore, RMTD will work toward implementing environmentally sustainable practices whenever financially feasible. These include, but are not limited to the adoption of alternative fuel technology vehicles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to increase energy efficiencies with our facilities, our operations and our staff.  To further the adoption of alternative fuel technology vehicles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the RMTD is committed to transitioning to a zero-emissions fleet by 2036.

RMTD’s Climate Action Plan Wins FTA Health Planet Award

Rockford Mass Transit District was recognized Friday, April 22, 2022 by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Federal Transit Administration (FTA) as one of the top 10 transit agencies submitting Climate Action Plans as part of the FTA’s Sustainable Transit for a Healthy Planet initiative. RMTD was named as a Champion of the Challenge for small transit properties for the plan it submitted earlier this month. The link to the RMTD Climate Action Plan is below.
