RMTD and Rockford Park District Partner for Easy Access Summer Fun!

The Rockford Mass Transit District and the Rockford Park District are partnering together to bring easy and affordable access to several Rockford Park District hot spots this summer with the Ticket to Ride promotion. The Ticket to Ride promotion, which starts Wednesday, June 9, 2010 and runs for 8 consecutive weeks thru August 1, 2010, highlights a different Park District property each week. Anyone riding the bus to that property will be given a discounted ticket for admissions for that property from the RMTD driver. The Ticket to Ride program is designed to heighten awareness of all the different venues the Park District has to offer everyone this summer. By partnering with RMTD and encouraging people to ride the bus, RMTD demonstrates that transportation is not a barrier to accessing these properties and enjoying all that our city has to offer.

Highlighted Park District properties in the Ticket to Ride promotion include:

“We are very excited about working with the Rockford Park District on this promotion,” states RMTD Marketing Specialist, Lisa Brown. “Our Park District is a community treasure with all that they have to offer. At the same time, they recognize that not everyone has access to a car. Having our operators pass out discounted tickets to anyone riding the bus to these facilities creates awareness for our existing passengers while at the same time, offers an incentive for those who do have transportation choices to perhaps choose the bus in order to get a discounted ticket. It is truly a win/win/win for everyone.”

Tickets to facilities will be distributed only to those riders actually on the route getting off at the facility during the designated week. The purpose is to encourage riders to frequent all 9 of the Park District properties during the highlighted week. Riders and potential riders may find out more about the program by visiting the RMTD website @ www.rmtd.org or the Rockford Park District web site @ www.rockfordparkdistrict.org.

RMTD provides over 1.7 million rides each year. The District has a fleet of 64 fixed route and paratransit vehicles, and offers 18 hours of service Monday thru Fridays, 13 hours of service on Saturdays, and 8 hours on Sundays. Rockford Mass Transit also provides service to Loves Park and Machesney Park.
